September Wines of Month
WINES OF THE MONTH
Each month we will select four wines we believe represent quality and value in their class. Quantities of these wines may be limited, so we suggest acting quickly.

September 2010

Santa Ema Reserve Merlot 2007 (Chile)

What can we say about this stupendously well made wine? Perhaps it’s the flavors of crushed blueberries with notes of chocolate and a dash of nutmeg. Or is it the fact that we’re holding the $11 sale price for the fourth year in a row, while the 90 Point ratings keep rolling in? We’ve builtlasting friendships with this wine! Can your next dinner party do without it? Reg $12.99 SALE $10.99

Bogle Phantom 2007 (California)

One of the most coveted of all Californian table wines, this beautiful blend of Petite Sirah and Zinfandel with a tiny percentage of Mourvedre. The deeply luscious and succulent fruit  create a full-bodied, ruby rich wine that can be enjoyed upon release or can cellar for a couple or more years. The problem with this Phantom is that once the band of loyal followers who enjoy it year after year read this, there may be precious little left for the rest of us. Ten cases is all we got! $18.99

Dario Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2008 (Italy)

We’d love to tell you we were the first in the area to discover this little gem from Italy, but the folks from Harvest Cafe may have beaten us to it. This wine just screams for almost anything you can serve with it. Pasta with red sauces, grilled meats, sausage, pizza etc. The wine just gushes with delicious red fruits! Reg $10.99 SALE $8.99

Bear Flag Soft White

If you try to decipher the label on this wine before you buy it, you’ll never try this wine! Take our word for it, that’s is a simply made delightfully pleasing white that you’ll love! (Hey, when did we ever lead you astray?) Whoever crafted this blend of Muscat, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and French Colombard was clearly just having fun, but we can all join in the fun! Love the label or hate it, we know you’ll love what $9 gets you here.  There’s also a red version! $8.99

Tohu Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (New Zealand)

We’ve always loved the wines of Tohu and somehow with the appealing new packaging, the wines almost seem to taste even better! The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc just bursts from the bottle with unctuous quantities of tropical fruits highlighted by flavors of passion fruit and nectarines.  Reg $15.99 SALE $12.99
